[attr="class","de1"] Vanessa was bickering on the phone. Honestly, she hated the phone. This was her second week back at work since Izzy had been born and now she was really wishing she didn’t have a full schedule on the day. “I’ll see what I can do, but I can’t make any promises on rescheduling for that meeting on Wednesday.” No she didn’t want to take a look at the rest of the week’s scheduling either. This what happened when you ran a company and took a leave of absence. Not that her vice president and deputy CEO had dropped the ball, it’s just Vanessa liked to things herself more often than not. WhitTech the largest contractor that wasn’t global (that honor belonged to Cross Consolidated) but in the state of Illinois, most of the major contracts belonged to WhitTech. Not all but most. Vanessa sighed. Cook County Sheriff’s department was giving her a headache. They always did. CPD was so much easier to deal with. Heels clicked against the marble stone floors. When it came to comfortable that was one thing that the front desk had going for it. When one walked in the front door, the front waiting area was more cozy than it was showy and expensive. Though she wasn’t exactly going for cheap when she had gone over the designs. The building wasn’t a tiny place and all the offices for the building were inside. The occasional patrol of uniformed armed security patrolled the place on a fairly regular basis. More so than they had in the past, given the incident where someone had blown up part of the building. (The construction has since finished). Martin had decided to step things up since then. Hanging up the phone she exhaled a breath. ⚓ Aria Campbell ⚓ [attr="class","de2"]VANESSA WHITMORE ♦. ♦[newclass=.de1]margin-top:25px;opacity:0;transition:0.8s;transition-delay:0.5s;transform:scale(0.75);[/newclass] [newclass=.de1:hover]opacity:0.75;transform:scale(1);[/newclass][newclass=.de2]transform:rotatez(90deg)[/newclass][googlefont=Molle:400italic]

Aria had been standing at the desk. She hadn't been working here long, and while Aria didn't necessarily enjoy having a job where she had to interact with people and be patient with them, it did bring in a steady income. "Everything alright, Miss Whitmore?" Aria asked when Vanessa walked in and hung up the phone. Aria would never out right say it, but she was grateful for Vanessa. She had given Aria a job when she didn't have to, and it was nice even if it was customer service and Aria didn't have a lot of patience. "Is there anything I can do to help?" she added as an afterthought. Vanessa looked tired and while Aria wasn't sure if that was the case or not, she was willing to help out in any way possible. Maybe that was because she wanted to prove herself, or maybe it was just because Aria enjoyed helping people. Whatever the reason behind it, if Aria could help then she would step up to the plate and do so. Vanessa Whitmore-Cross

[attr="class","de1"] Vanessa wasn’t in the habit of letting informational talk trickle down from the top to the bottom of the company. Though she wasn’t about to ignore Aria talking to her either. “Just another day at work dealing with people.” It was the truth and though it was vague and Vanessa could tell a lie when she wanted to, it wasn’t what she was doing here. “Being tired doesn’t really help at all.” Another honest statement as she ignored the inkling to rub her eyes. Her ‘twins’ were a month apart and it was an adjustment period in the household with her and her fiance. The media had been all over the whole engagement between her and Evan. Apparently the new thought that her being engaged to the son of Cross Consolidated’s (the largest competitor to WhitTech) owner and founder was a rather newsworthy event. "If the news media pops in again, you may have security show them the way out.” She wouldn’t want Aria to go toe to toe with them but she was sure that the various officers that Martin had hired would take care of Aria also. Undoubtedly the security team at WhitTech was very thorough and did their jobs well or they weren’t there for long. Martin didn’t put up with officers who thought they could slack off. “I am going to grab a latte do you want anything?” Vanessa wasn’t in the habit of having her personal assistant go and get her coffee or even the secretaries or receptionists. Sure it was nice when some of them did but the CEO of the company was much more about returning the favor. She never saw herself as better than anyone there. It was one of the things that set WhitTech apart from a lot of the other companies when it came to taking care of the employees. Vanessa was one of those who took very good care of employees all the way down the line. Fair wages, fair treatment, and competitive benefits to other companies in the area. Heck, her security officers were paid as well as the CPD patrol officers. ⚓ Aria Campbell ⚓ [attr="class","de2"]VANESSA WHITMORE ♦. ♦[newclass=.de1]margin-top:25px;opacity:0;transition:0.8s;transition-delay:0.5s;transform:scale(0.75);[/newclass] [newclass=.de1:hover]opacity:0.75;transform:scale(1);[/newclass][newclass=.de2]transform:rotatez(90deg)[/newclass][googlefont=Molle:400italic]

Aria nodded when Vanessa mentioned being tired. She could understand that as there had been plenty of times where Aria herself was tired. "If the news media pops in again, you may have security show them the way out"The teen smirked at this. While she hadn't had to deal with the news media too much, she had heard about it and witnessed it a couple of times. "Will do. Though I could probably take care of them to" Aria said, only half joking. One thing about Aria was that she was protective of people that she knew. It was because of that protectiveness that Aria didn't take crap from others, which was both a good thing and a bad thing. "As for the drink, I'd love a latte too. Thanks Miss Whitmore" Aria added. At first, she had been surprised that Vanessa was willing to get drinks for her employees. She was the CEO after all, but it didn't take long for Aria to realize that Vanessa liked to help her employees out too. "If you're up for the company, I could join you for a bit" Aria offered as she looked around the place. It was pretty much empty except for the two of them, which was nice. While Aria liked having a job, there were times when she didn't like dealing with people. It took too much patience, something that Aria knew she lacked. Vanessa Whitmore-Cross

[attr="class","de1"] Vanessa didn’t fail to catch the comment that Aria could take care of the news media. “Oh I am sure you could. I don’t doubt that.” There was a small chuckle. Vanessa had to hand it to Aria, she definitely had a bit of tenacity. Not unlike herself at a younger age. Though Vanessa had never really outgrown that tenacity. There was a small nod. “Sure I could use the company.” If someone were to tell Aria off for leaving then Vanessa would be sure to straighten it out. Though she scribbled a note for the other person who worked at the front desk. "Shall we?” Vanessa pointed towards the front doors. It would do her well to get out and about getting more fresh air. There was a lot on her mind. Though she seemed to be doing well to hide most of what was bubbling underneath the surface of the sharply dressed and presented business woman. Vanessa had this way of always putting her best foot forward when it came to the business world. "And how has the morning been?" Vanessa was asking more about how Aria had been getting on at the company more than what had been going on specifically at the front desk but she had left it open to interpretation on purpose. ⚓ Aria Campbell ⚓ [attr="class","de2"]VANESSA WHITMORE ♦. ♦[newclass=.de1]margin-top:25px;opacity:0;transition:0.8s;transition-delay:0.5s;transform:scale(0.75);[/newclass] [newclass=.de1:hover]opacity:0.75;transform:scale(1);[/newclass][newclass=.de2]transform:rotatez(90deg)[/newclass][googlefont=Molle:400italic]

Aria shrugged as she followed Vanessa. "This morning has been alright. I haven't had to deal with too many people yet, which is a relief. I honestly don't know how some people can handle conversations with others and answering their questions or explaining something" she explained. While Aria had the ability to handle people and to hold conversations, she could also lose both her patience and her temper easily which had led to Aria getting in trouble with people in the past. Luckily, that hadn't happened here yet but Aria wasn't sure how long that would last. "That's never been something I'm good at, but I guess I'm learning" "I also woke up before my alarm went off and I couldn't go back to sleep. So I ended up wandering around the area near my place for a bit and took a few photos." she added as an after thought. Aria loved photography, but she hadn't been able to take a lot of photos recently but that was mainly because she wasn't sure what to take pictures of. This morning had been different though. Aria had managed to get a few pictures of different buildings and some plants. "Nothing major though. Just some pictures of buildings, and a couple more of some plants that I thought looked nice" As they continued to walk, Aria looked up at Vanessa. "What about you? How has your morning been?" she asked. Aria wasn't just asking to be polite either. The sixteen year old was genuinely curious, and wanted to know if Vanessa's morning had been good as well. [attr="class","de1"] Vanessa could only chuckle at Aria. “I was like you once. People weren’t exactly my forte. Then dad decided I should go into marketing.” She shook her head. “Piece of advice: You are in control of the conversation. Not them. You just let them think they are.” Vanessa’s heels clicked as the two walked. “After you.” Vanessa said pointing to the spinning door at the front of the building. Vanessa hadn’t exactly been a fan of the whole spinning door thing but she’d gotten used to it, and now it was kind of convenient, especially if her hands were full she’d spin it with her back and have fun with the door. Okay, so she was partially still a kid at heart. “You know...” Vanessa spoke when they were both outside. “...that architectural photography can be some of the most fascinating.” She wasn’t just saying that. Historical architecture and photography was one of her favorite things. If Aria ever saw Vanessa’s office or her house, then she would understand. Not that it wasn’t evident by the pictures in the main lobby. “You know those pushy people at the desk?” She chuckled a little bit. “I still deal with them too.” She reassured her. “Unlike you I don’t get much sleep anymore. My children keep me up in the middle of the night.” She smiled lightly. “Children really change things.” Though it wasn’t hard to tell that Vanessa was a genuinely happy person when it came to most anything. ⚓ Aria Campbell ⚓ [attr="class","de2"]VANESSA WHITMORE ♦. ♦[newclass=.de1]margin-top:25px;opacity:0;transition:0.8s;transition-delay:0.5s;transform:scale(0.75);[/newclass] [newclass=.de1:hover]opacity:0.75;transform:scale(1);[/newclass][newclass=.de2]transform:rotatez(90deg)[/newclass][googlefont=Molle:400italic]

"I'll have to keep that thought in mind whenever I deal with people. I have a tendency to lose my patience, and my temper with people. Which isn't always a good thing" Aria admitted. "I've lost count of the amount of times I've gotten in trouble or been warned about my temper." Aria smiled a little when Vanessa mentioned architectural photography being fascinating. "I'll have to agree with you on that one. It's cool to see the different ways that light and such interacts with the buildings and reflects off of them. I also really like photos where there's people interacting with the city or with each other, but they don't realize they're apart of the photo. It gives it more life in my opinion" she explained before laughing a little. "It's funny because there was a time where I wanted nothing to do with photography. I'd take a few pictures here and there, but I wasn't really into it. Then I got placed with Rene, and she loves photography and everything about it. She kind of got me interested in it too" Aria had never really been interested in photography prior to her placement with Rene. Instead, she had been more into music and everything surrounding it. She had played various instruments, and listened to numerous artists. "Before photography, I really loved music. I still do, but I've spent more time taking pictures then learning or playing instruments." The sixteen year old couldn't help but let out a small chuckle when Vanessa mentioned her children keeping her awake. "I can only imagine. I've babysat kids a couple of times, but never overnight. The only thing I struggled with was chasing them around their home and trying to get them ready for bed. Toddlers and young children do not like the idea of bedtime" Aria joked, though that was an understatement. "I have been in a few homes though where there were babies. The little ones stressed the parents out, but as stressed out as they were they also really loved their kids" Aria shoved her hands in her pockets, and didn't say anything for a moment. An idea popped into her head though and she looked up to Vanessa, giving a small smile. "You know, if you ever need a break I can watch your kids. I have experience with them. Between being surrounded by them since I was about thirteen and then also babysitting, I'm really good with kids" she offered. Aria may not be great with people, but kids were different. They were easier to watch and handle, and they still had that child like innocent and wander. If Aria had a choice between spending the day dealing with adults or spending the day watching kids, the sixteen year old would choose the kids. "It wouldn't be any problem for me" Vanessa Whitmore-Cross

[attr="class","de1"] Vanessa chuckled. There had been a time she had lost her patience with people. It still happened, but not to the extent that she would throw a stapler at their head. No, she still threw staplers but they went into her trash can. There were no assault claims that way. “Tempers get a lot less accomplished and oftentimes even when they get results, they aren’t those that we want.” She’d learned that bit herself. Not that Vanessa had been a rebellious handful of a teenager, it was just that she’d gone over the temper learning curve. Vanessa couldn’t really relate to the whole music thing. She wasn’t exactly one for music unless it was the soundtrack to a really good movie. No, she lived a life full of architecture and designs. A world of science and marketing and even her hobbies at home lent themselves to more a fascination with architecture design. She was engaged to the former scientist of Cross Consolidated. They were a family that spent fortunes on specialised types of paper. That was just the beginning. To be fair, Vanessa had been adopted but there was no feeling of feeling like she never belonged. Her dad had been there from day one in her life. Of course it had been temporary at first. Vanessa chuckled at Aria. “Aleks and Isabella, they are a handful.” Aleks was a little over month old and his sister only a few weeks. “They aren’t big enough to pick their head up on their own yet,let alone run.” Vanessa knew as soon as they started moving that all bets were off in her huge house. She was hardly comfortable with her own children yet, Evan was much better at calming them down. Vanessa was easily frustrated at their inability to communicate their needs. Vanessa had always been an only child and had no idea what to with a little person that she was tasked with loving and protecting. That isn’t to say she faltered as a mother but it was a very big adjustment period for her. The hearing loss wasn’t helping much. They could scream bloody murder from upstairs and she’d sometimes not hear them. The only reason she could understand Aria was her ability to read lips. Vanessa was having a hard time admitting that she was going deaf. Vanessa opened the passenger door to her new car. Though she could see Anderson and Martin following close in their own vehicle. It always made the two nervous when she drove. Though, they could do little about it. Vanessa was a careful driver but given she was at a further distance from them making her a much easier target. Vanessa smiled waiting for Aria to get in before she closed the door and travelled to the drivers side. Vanessa wasn’t the type to change cars on a whim, just because she could but she’d wanted to treat herself to a new car and so she had. “Any particular coffee shop you prefer?” She asked. The hard topped convertible was up as the winter air would chill them in the city. She figured Aria would prefer the heated warmth of the seats. ⚓ Aria Campbell ⚓ [attr="class","de2"]VANESSA WHITMORE ♦. ♦[newclass=.de1]margin-top:25px;opacity:0;transition:0.8s;transition-delay:0.5s;transform:scale(0.75);[/newclass] [newclass=.de1:hover]opacity:0.75;transform:scale(1);[/newclass][newclass=.de2]transform:rotatez(90deg)[/newclass][googlefont=Molle:400italic]

Aria shrugged when Vanessa mentioned how tempers don't get a lot accomplished. She hadn't really thought about it before, but the teen knew that Vanessa was right. "You have a point there" Aria admitted. "It doesn't mean keeping it in check is any easier though" Aria gave a small smile when Vanessa talked about her kids and how they weren't even old enough to lift their heads yet. "Look on the bright side. When they're older, they'll always have someone by their side and to hang out with" she pointed out. Aria also knew this meant they could get in trouble together too, but the sixteen year old wasn't going to mention that. That wouldn't be until a few years anyways. There was no need to make Vanessa worry about those days. "I'm not too picky on where to go, so anywhere is fine with me" Aria replied when Vanessa asked if there was any particular coffee place she wanted to go to. She was vaguely aware of Martin and Anderson being nearby, but Aria didn't question or comment on it. Aria figured it was for security reasons, and so she left it at that. Looking around the car they were in, Aria took note of how new it felt and looked. She did feel out of place in the car, not being used to expensive vehicles. However, Aria wasn't about to mention that. "This is a nice car. Is it new?" she asked, looking over at Vanessa. "What kind is it?" Aria added as an afterthought. The teen didn't know anything about cars. Her knowledge was very basic. Really the only thing the teen knew was that there were automatic cars and there were manual cars. Beyond that though, Aria didn't know anything about cars. Vanessa Whitmore-Cross

[attr="class","Whitmorener"] [attr="class","Whitmorener1"] [attr="class","Whitmoreback"] [attr="class","Whitmorenert"] Vanessa chuckled. “That’s true, it doesn’t keep them under wraps; but maybe it does help us see what we could work on? That’s generally the first step to much of any of that.” Vanessa listened to Aria talk about the twins. “And someone to get in trouble with.” Just because Vanessa had been only child did not make her a saint by any stretch of the imagination. Oh no, she found trouble to get into there was just no one to blame it on. Checking her mirrors she realized that Martin was going to let her out of the lot first. Of course he was, because he was going to tail her. Yeah… well at least she knew it wouldn’t be an idiot driver behind her that didn’t stop because his nose was in his cellphone or something. There was always that. "If you are sure.” Vanessa pulled out of the lot listening to Aria asking about the car. “Yeah it was time for a new one.” Well by new, there was nothing wrong with her 2008 Porsche, but Vanessa was a bit of a car enthusiast and this Aston Martin had just caught her eye. Every now and again certain cars would do that. Then again her fiance drove a Lamborghini because he could. That might be the one area that Vanessa was equal in spending money. “It’s a Aston Martin. I fell in love with the color. The end.” Vanessa chuckled. “You should be driving soon.” Vanessa noted trying to make conversation, though she knew Aria didn’t have anyone to teach her really. “I could teach you if you want.” She offered. Well she was sure that Martin wouldn’t mind lending him Teresa’s older car. It was much easier to learn in than a porsche. [attr="class","Ariatitle"] [attr="class","Aria"] [attr="class","Ariabox"]everything's made to be broken, i just want you to know who i am [attr="class","Ariamain"] Aria smiled when Vanessa mentioned how the twins could cause trouble together. "I was thinking that too, but I wasn't about to say it. Besides, maybe they'll be sweet angels who never get in trouble" she suggested, though that was doubtful. Even the most quiet and nicest kids could find trouble. "Either way though, those two have great parents, so they'll turn out okay. I'm almost sure of it" Aria listened as Vanessa explained why she got the car. "The color is nice" the sixteen year old agreed. "So what about the Porsche? Are you going to sell it, or keep it until the twins are old enough to drive? Not that it's my business really. I'm just, curious is all" She lowered her head when Vanessa mentioned how she should be driving soon. Aria knew that most kids her age were either starting to drive, or already driving. Aria just hadn't gotten around to it though. It was difficult when moving too much, and not every family was too keen on letting her use their car. Even now with her current placement, Aria hadn't learned to drive though that was no surprise. She didn't exactly spend a lot of time at her house. "I should, but I haven't really had a chance to learn or somebody to teach me. Not everyone likes the idea of a teenager touching their car. Then there's the whole insurance thing. Putting a teenager on car insurance raises the price a lot. There's also the fact that I don't stay in one place for too long, so there's no point in someone teaching me when I'll probably only be there for a little bit" Aria explained, shrugging. That was just the way it was, and Aria had accepted that. "Besides, there's other ways to get around the city. I can walk, ride a bike, or take the subway. The only time it's a hassle is when the weather isn't nice or I get lost. Those are always the interesting days, especially if they happen at the same time" Aria added, joking. She usually walked or rode a bike, but on rare occasions she took the subway. It also wasn't often that Aria got lost, but it did happen. Aria's head shot up when Vanessa offered to teach her, confusion and uncertainty in her eyes. The last thing the sixteen year old had been expecting was Vanessa to offer to teach her. She was in charge of a company, and had twins to look after so surely her schedule was too busy to teach Aria how to drive. Still, Vanessa was offering to teach her and Aria would be stupid to turn down the offer. "Are you serious?" Aria asked, looking over at Vanessa. "That'd be great. I'd love if you taught me, Ms. Whitmore. That is, if you're not too busy" Vanessa Whitmore-Cross [attr="class","Ariabox2"]all this time i was finding myself, and i didn't know i was lost [newclass=".Ariatitle"]margin-top:20px;width:361px;text-align:left;font-size:39px;font-family:Montserrat;color:#A346FF;[/newclass] [newclass=".Aria"]padding-top:8px;margin-top:-20px;width:350px;height:515px;background-image:url('https://cdn.nickpic.host/images/pQY48G.jpg');border-left:5px solid #A346FF;[/newclass] [newclass=".Ariabox"]width:315px;padding:10px;padding-top:0px;font-family:montserrat;color:#9B988E;font-size:9px;border-bottom:1px solid white;[/newclass] [newclass=".Ariabox2"]margin-top:-5px;position:justify;width:315px;padding:10px;font-family:montserrat;color:#9B988E;font-size:9px;border-top:1px solid white;[/newclass] [newclass=".Ariamain"]margin-top:10px;padding:15px;width:305px;background-color:white;height:414px;color:black;overflow:auto;font-size:10px;opacity:0;-webkit-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; -moz-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; -ms-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; -o-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s;[/newclass] [newclass=".Ariamain:hover]opacity:.8;-webkit-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1.5s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; -moz-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1.5s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; -ms-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1.5s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; -o-transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1.5s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s; transition:height .5s ease, opacity 1.5s ease, overflow 1s ease .5s;[/newclass] [newclass=.Ariamain b]color:#A346FF;[/newclass] [newclass=.Ariamain::-webkit-scrollbar]width:3px;[/newclass] [newclass=.Ariamain::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#4646FF;[/newclass] [newclass=.Ariacred]font-size:8px;letter-spacing:2px;[/newclass] [Googlefont="Montserrat"]
